Have you ever seen a rich person’s house from afar and wondered, what’s all in there? I did too, before I ever went inside my first mansion. I was working at a high-end restaurant back then. Which sold shots of Rémy Martin’s Louis XIII for about $150 at the time, just for one shot of liquor!
So, while I was working an old friend came in to eat and invited me to go to a party when I got off work. Needless to say, I went, and it just so happened to be at a mansion, that was like 15 to 20 thousand square feet. We drove up to the guard-gated subdivision and my friend showed his driver’s license to the guard, told the man the address, and said he was on the permanent list.
Then as we pulled up to this monstrous-sized masterpiece, the large circular driveway was loaded with cars such as a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, and even a couple of Rolls Royces. After that, we knocked on the huge doors and a man in a pretty slick tuxedo opened them, he was the butler. I then walked into an area that seemed bigger than my whole house, complete with 45-foot ceilings and two sweeping staircases on either side of the room. It was so big that there was a full-sized front half of a rhinoceros that had been taxidermied…Ew…hanging high up on one of the walls and it looked small compared to the room.
The house was three stories high and had a full-sized bar on each floor. It was so big that I was there for several hours and never even came across the kitchen…lol. Anyway, below I have a list of things that you might find if you ever visit or buy your own mansion or rich house.
Here is the list of things you can find in a rich house, I hope you find it as interesting as I do!
Something you probably won’t find in an apartment or middle-class house is a nightclub or even a full-sized bar for that matter.
However, a lot of rich people have them, at least the large bars.
You probably have to be one of the people who are richer than rich to have an entire nightclub in your mansion.
The wealthy will usually have custom woodwork & furniture throughout their house.
Such as the bars that I was just talking about, columns, tables, and other such things.
On a lot of rich houses yards, you’re likely to come across a place to play basketball.
Since basketball courts tend to be a staple when it comes to rich houses nowadays.
Oh, yeah, and let us not forget the libraries.
Some of them can be two or even three stories tall with circular staircases in them and beautiful custom woodwork.
As I mentioned in my preamble, some of these places can be massive.
I just looked and according to one source a house needs to be at least 5,000 square feet to be considered a mansion.
Although, supposedly, the largest one was built in 2010 and is 400,000 square feet…DANG!!!
That’s humongous!!!
Can you imagine what just the light bill alone must run every month in that thing…phew…Ha-ha.
When you feel like bowling a game, you can usually find an alley or allies in some of the bigger mansions.
Now, here, I'm talking about heated floors and I'm pretty sure people who live up north are thankful for this one!
Also, come to think of it, I sure could have used them when I was young.
After my mom and dad got divorced, my mom and I lived in a small wooden house that was up on blocks.
It had old wood slat floorboards, and in the winter, when I would get up in the morning to go to school, that cold air would come up through those floors…ouch…it would make me not want to get out of bed.
Boy, I would have loved to have had this when I was little.
To have seen Star Wars on the big screen, in my own house…WOOHOO!
Can we say crime deterrence and/or prevention, anyone…lol
No need to take your vehicle to an outside mechanic or automotive shop anymore, you just have your personal mechanic come to you!
There are also good old guest houses that seem to accompany many mansions and the people who own them.
That way they don’t have to stay in the same house when the in-laws come to town…Hahaha!
Yeah, it’s pretty cool, sometimes they blend in so well that you almost can’t find them.
Now, this is pretty cool!!!
I live in Florida, so these would come in handy if I ever had to ride out a hurricane.
It would also be useful when it comes to storing some gold, silver, and maybe even a little emergency cash in.
Can we say alcoholics…just kidding…lol.
Maybe we can store a few bottles of the expensive stuff as an investment, though.
Now, humidors definitely aren’t for me, especially a whole room dedicated to them.
I guess if I wanted a house and it already had one, I’d still buy it.
I would just have to figure out another use for it.
Since I’ve never been one for cigars.
So, if you live where it snows a lot, I could see where this would save you a lot of work!
Heated driveways, no more shoveling snow.
I’m sure that would be nice.
This kinda seems a little hoity-toity…Hahaha.
Also, I don’t know how I would feel about strangers living in my house with me and vice versa.
I guess eventually you would get to know each other, but it would definitely be weird at first, I would think.
Although, I suppose some of the really big estates probably have separate detached houses for the staff.
Gold-plated toilets, sinks, and whatnot might be a bit much too, eh?
You wouldn't want to wake up with a serious urge to go and find you're toilet gone, because someone left your party early and decided to take it with them...Hahaha!
I’m talking about indoor swimming pools.
Believe it or not, most houses that have indoor swimming pools, still have outdoor pools as well.
With this, you could get yourself looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Dewayne “The Rock” Johnson…Ha-ha!
Nothing like a sauna to help you relax and sweat away your stress from the previous day's mess.
All right, now I think this is another cool one.
However, on second thought, after you watch the movie, are you going to get out of the pool looking as if you aged 40 years, all pruned up…lol
So, obviously, this is only going to come with the ones that are on intercoastal waterways, lakes, or some other kind of water.
Most mansions usually come with at least an acre of land.
Although, some can have as much as 5,000 acres or more.
Well, for this, you would need to have some of those acres I was just talking about.
Some of these rich houses come with spectacular scenery right outside their window or extending from their huge patios.
Like mountain or ocean views, for instance.
Where they can hope their kids become the next Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, or Serena, or Venus Williams.
There are some beautiful gardens grown inside conservatories within some of these mansions.
Along, with having pretty nice fountains too.
Ah, golf, the sport of Kings, or so they say…Ha-ha.
They also say a man’s home is his castle. I guess in the case of some of these mansions they’re probably right!
Billiards or cards, take your pick.
Although, I’ve seen some mansions where their game rooms were so big that they looked like an old-school arcade, full of arcade cabinet video games as well.
Yeah, this is pretty amazing! We happen to have several fly-in communities here in Florida.
You can keep your jet out back in your personal hangar.
John Travolta even owns a home in one, Jumbolair Aviation & Equestrian Estates.
At least, I think he still owns a home there.
When you have as much money as some of these people, you aren’t taking the time to decorate your mansion yourself.
That’s for the peasants…Hahaha!
Pretty Awesome!
Built-in bookcases and again, like most of their libraries, more custom woodwork and probably some fiber optics thrown in too.
Finally, we come to the big walls around the castle.
I wonder if some of them even have a moat…lol.
Oh, wait, I think the YouTube video “Technically Advanced Homes”, that I have in this post answered that question for us.
There is at least one home that has a moat.
One more thing, for some, it’s a wall around their big subdivisions, rather than just around their big rich house, but I’m sure it still serves its purpose.
Keeping out the riff-raff…Ha-ha.
Rich houses seem to have a lot of things in them that an ordinary house does not. Such as game rooms, indoor pools, safe rooms, and even private hangars out back for your jet. We don’t need to be jealous though, if we focus and apply ourselves, we can attain anything that we want. Now, I’m not saying that we want that, only that we could have it if we really wanted it and didn’t give up until we got it. So, I really hope you enjoyed this little trip through the Lifestyles of the Rich and Shameless (oops, I mean Famous, Hahaha!). If you have a comment about any of it, just leave it below.
